I had a maiden voyage on the raft today, and I hate say this, but I don't think I am in hurry to be back on the raft again.The raft was very stable and it was nice to sit & relax and drift along. I found lots and lots of these shrimps floating along the bank edge today. I also saw them jumping out of water being chased by fish.With one scoop with my landing net, I ended up with a big handful of them. I am finally back to fishing since we came back from our school trip to Japan.I had a short fishing session on Friday to get a half dozen herring. It was nice to be on the water and to cast line, feeling to be free again (it required an awful amount of energy and patience to look after a group of teenagers for two weeks day and night). I have been away for two weeks for our school trip to Japan.It was a truly amazing time with lots of smiles, laughter, and surprises, and I think I am very very fortunate for being able to go on the tour with such a lovely bunch of people. While my friends were driving South yesterday to take a part in our club's freshwater field day / weekend, I was driving North to come home. I have some work to be done by this weekend, so spending a whole weekend chasing fish was unfortunately not an option.Anyway, it turned out that I had a bit of time to go fishing this afternoon, so I went bream fishing for a hour or so instead. Flowers of Prunus are blooming in our school yard which remind me of Japanese spring.I went to fish after work today. It felt like fish were chasing flies better than last week and water was bit warmer today. As the weather has been warming up, we went down to Rockingham and Mandurah with hope that we could catch some herring on poppers today. My friend told me that people net big schools of Australian salmon in south when they run. They pile up fish on the shore, load them on to trucks with a bulldozer, and send them to a factory to make cat food. Killing fish weighing 5kg each for cat food sounds very much wasting, and I am thinking there must be a better alternative like European perch or carp for that.Anyway, I kept one estuary

My wife and I went down to Fremantle for lunch today, and I took my Canon D10 for more test shots.All images are changed into 3:2 aspect ratio, and I have done some post processing work (i.e. changing exposure, increasing contrast, and saturation). My Canon EF 50mm macro lens got broken for the second time last month. The first one had a problem of the focusing motor, and it looks like the second copy has developed the same problem.
