Well, I was planning to go South to catch trout yesterday, but I didn't get to go at the end.
The guy who I was going to fish with told me on Thursday that he had to be back by lunch on Saturday, so we decided to call the whole thing off. It was disappointing to make a last minute change, but such is life, I guess.
So, instead of chasing trout, I went to fish for bream in the morning for an hour or so on Saturday. After that I went to see Chris at Flyworld to talk about how Japan was beaten completely by the All Blacks on Friday. I also got a couple of saltwater hooks and other stuff from the shop.
On the way back, I stopped at Mt Henry Bridge to meet with Mike and we fished there for a couple of hours. The wind was getting strong and chops on the water were looking like a size of a baby seal which made fishing difficult, but I was lucky enough to hook up with one fish.
It looks like flat heads are already making way upstream. My contribution to the world's economy on Saturday.
I was waken up by a rumbling noise of thunder around 6:00 this morning. I asked my friend, Grant, to come to fish with me in the early morning when I saw him at the shop yesterday. So, I made a phone call to him to tell that we got extra hours of sleep this morning and we might fish later if the weather gets better.
Although the wind was still very strong and it would look ridiculous to cast fly line out there, it appeared that the rain clouds were gone, so we decided to go out to fish around 3:00PM.
By the time we got down to a river, Mike had already found an area which was protected by the howling gale. According to Mike, this was only area where he could be standing straight.
We fished an hour or so before the sky turned back to the angry mode again, and I got a couple of fish and a few more bites at the end. As Mike said, it was good to be out to fish in an extreme weather now and then.
It feels to me that this storm would be the last resistance of this winter before the arrival of spring.
Yes, Mike. Another storm is coming soon.It looks like better to go home soon.
