Spring is near

My friends and I fished the area near the Deep Water Point yesterday.
Fishing was quite good. We landed a few breams and yellowtail grunters.

To our surprise, one of us also landed a flathead and a flounder
. They don't show up in the Canning River during the winter months usually. Does this mean the spring is already on our door step?

Speaking of the spring, the trout season opens this week after a long wait, and we are supposed to go on a season opening trout camp coming weekend.

So, I dragged out my camping gear today to see if everything is in a good shape.

Not accepting defeat

There were 5 of us spending a whole afternoon yesterday, and we still couldn't find a single fish.

I couldn't accept the defeat from yesterday, so I went out again to have my revenge.

It only took me 4 casts to find bream today. The next four casts produced another fish and 2 more missed strikes. On the fifth cast, they were gone.

On & Off

Yesterday, breams were biting. Today, they were off again. Very interesting.

Dedication

The rain came down heavily at times, but that didn't stop us from going fishing. Dedication is a key to success, especially for bream fishing.

Nice bending curve

My friend kindly put me on his boat yesterday, and he showed me how to catch silver trevally (locally known as skippy).

I want to thank my friend for his generosity because I had a very exciting and inspirational fishing session.

Although I didn't land big ones (however, I got busted off twice with something bigger), I soon learned that I was dealing with some very hard fighting fish. Not something to play around with 4 weight rod.

My camera sadly went flat after taking 6 shots, but I was happy to get this one. It should prove people that a bamboo rod is stronger than some people think.

Where is fish?

It looks like fish is gone.

I have been trying a few different spots for the past two weekends, but I haven't got much to write about.

My friends and I are still catching odd small ones on Canning River, but even finding those fish is a hard work.

Standing in cold water, making a lot of casts without a single bite.

So, we decided to venture out to the lower part of Swan River today, checking around Nedlands and Claremont areas.

We saw some bait fish which we haven't seen for a month on Canning, but there was still no sign of bream. Although, it was refreshing to fish somewhere different at the end of day.
