Our house of green

Our school has changed one of its house colours to green.

This gave me a legit work related excuse to ask my wife to buy me a new shirt to match our house colour.  Lucky me.

Hobbit on IMAX

My wife and I went to see Hobbit at a local IMAX cinema today.

We haven't been to the IMAX before, so we weren't sure if it would be worth paying extra money to see the movie on the IMAX screen.

Well, we loved the film which made me feel like packing my gear and go on a fishing adventure in NZ. We felt 3D and all special effects looked far better on the IMAX screen.  May be it got to do with shooting the film at 48fps, but everything looked smooth and realistic.

Anyway at the end, I told my wife that I won't like to see any 3D film anywhere else from now on.

Art & Craft Bazaar

We went to the Art & Craft Bazaar at Fremantle Arts Centre today.

There were some nice things, but they were beyond my pocket money. I also saw a T-shirts saying "I Love Freo" with a road bike printed on it.  I told my wife that I would have bought it, if the bike was Brompton instead.

Climbing walls

My friend, Gus, called me on Thursday, and asked me if I was interested to go climbing some walls.

I wasn't doing much as the weather wasn't that great to go fishing, so it was a timely call.

We went to a place in the City as I can get a discount as a member of the State School Teacher's Union, but by the time we paid an expensive parking ticket on the side of the road, it wasn't much of getting discount.

We were there for an hour and bit, and my arms were already sore. It looks like I need to build #8 9ft bamboo rod, a rock lunching catapult, to strengthen my arms bit.

For camera lovers

My friend took me to a camera swap meet today.

I have been looking for a new tripod, so I was hoping to find a nice tripod. unfortunately I counldn't find what I wanted. I saw one which was well made. It was solid enough to be used as a rocket launcher, but it would be too heavy for me to take it to rivers.

Things were mostly old stuff (at least for someone like me got into photography with digital cameras), and I didn't find anything that I can use for my camera apart from one Sigma's zoom lens.

At the end, it was still an interesting morning to see so many old cameras particularly a Hasselblad 500 series with 3 lenses with a price tag of $4800.

Garden flowers

I've never seen a flower of spring onion before.
